My Love and Belief
Right from the days that I can remember, my family seldom visits a practitioner – thankful for that but during instances when there was something that needed medical attention, we used to go to an Ayurvedic practitioner. So, when it was time to choose my line of studies – I chose Ayurveda over Allopathy – the reasons might have been deep-rooted in my mind due to the influence of my grandmother who used to pick herbal cures for commonly occurring conditions, like a concoction of holy basil, ground black pepper for cough or cold.
When I started learning about this ancient 5000-year-old system of medicine aptly named “Knowledge of Life”, Ayurveda I could appreciate the respect my family had it for all these years. Just like anyone thinks at that age, I was earlier thinking of it as a system that replaced synthetic medicine with herbs, unable to understand that the preventive aspect was the core base of wellness in Ayurveda. Over my Ayurvedic degree course, I discovered that both Allopathy modern medicine: Ayurveda had their own styles of wellness and healing.
Allopathy is great when you require a quick fix like if you are bitten by a snake, the anti-venom would save your life. But I loved Ayurveda because it is based on the fact of “treating the person not only the symptoms of his disease by analyzing all the aspects of his wellbeing including physical, mental, psychological and body-makeup”
All modern medical research is disease-based, it doesn’t try to encompass all variables of the diseased individual – it is a one-size-fits-all framework. Ayurvedic wellness and healing consider everyone’s variables along with the disease condition to recommend a cure/wellness regimen.
Quoting Dr. Deepak Chopra: “I think it was just the fact that there is a lot of frustration when all you do is prescribe medication; you start to feel like a legalized drug pusher. That doesn’t mean that all prescriptions are useless, but 80 percent of all drugs prescribed today are true of optional or marginal benefit.”
Ayurveda stresses on prevention rather than cure, by understanding the basic Prakriti (or composition), we can suggest a customized wholesome wellness regimen. Every consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner will start with this “individual “ variable analysis of your Prakriti based on which the rest of the preventive/curative aspects are based upon.
In Ayurveda, as preventive aspects are given more weightage to an extent that there is a quote which roughly translates to “If you eat the right food per your Prakriti there is no need for any medicine” As individuals, it is very important to strike a harmony between mind, body & soul for a stress-free and happy life. It is time to ride the Ayurvedic “disease” Freeway… taking diversions from our habits of popping chemicals in when we are stressed or uneasy .. time to rethink !!! Welcome you all to experience the ayurvedic way to wellness through VedicSparsa !!
Our Mission
Why VedicSparsa
VedicSparsa is founded on the purpose of bringing the benefits of Ayurveda in its true authentic form to improve wellness and quality of life.
Ayurveda is the traditional healing modality of the Vedic culture from India. It is said to be 2000 to 5000 years old, meaning it has stood the test of time. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that literally translates as “the wisdom of life” or “the knowledge of longevity”.
The current world is adopting Ayurveda and its findings in different ways, for example, companies are creating supplements with turmeric and ashwagandha, which are some of the key elements of ayurvedic wellness supplements.
At VedicSparsa, we believe that the key to Ayurvedic wellness and healing is the knowledge that wellness is not a “one size fits all” proposition. One must understand the unique nature of each person and situation, considering the individual, the season, the food habits, the ecosystem, and so on.
According to Ayurveda, everyone has a unique constitution (also called Prakriti) that is specific to that person, and movement away from that constitution creates health imbalances; if such imbalances are not addressed, is when our human body feels that something is off. So, the early signs of imbalance serve as a wake-up call to make gentle and natural shifts in behavior to return to balance—such as adjusting diet, modifying daily activities, meditation, and taking herbal supplements.
At VedicSparsa, we start with determining your Prakriti—your fundamental balanced constitution of your most natural state. Consider your physical structure as well as mental and emotional tendencies. Understanding why you have a manifestation of any imbalances and working with you, with compassion to curate a holistic journey towards wellness.
Currently, VedicSparsa is open for online consultancy and will open a physical facility in the Dallas area.
